About Endurance

Endurance is a competition against the clock where the speed and endurance of horse is put to test. The emphasis is on finishing in good condition. Endurance requires extensive preparation and a deep knowledge and understanding between horse and rider.

Endurance Riding in UAE commenced under the directives of the founder President HH Sh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the guidance and support of the UAE Ruling families, a sport which has topped the popularity level among the endurance fraternity.

The first modern desert ride in UAE was held on 7th January 1993 where camels competed against horses in the 40 km pioneering event in the dunes of Dubai and the first fifteen places were taken by horses.

In 1998 the World Championship Endurance was awarded to United Arab Emirates.. A record 162 competitors started in the 1998 World Championship out of which 78 completed the 160km course. The World Championship provided a huge boost to the sport of endurance.

The competitions and participation in endurance riding has grown since then. Our mission is to promote and enhance the sport of endurance riding by improving the standards of endurance, providing good competition levels and developing new opportunities for new trainers and riders.

There are three fully dedicated endurance centres in UAE with good infrastructure and modern amenities to facilitate endurance riding in UAE.
